BEIJING, March. 24 -- A special TV series is being made to commemorate a heroes of the Tibet Autonomous Region, which will celebrate the 40th anniversary of its establishment.

A special TV series is being made to commemorate one of the heroes of that period of history, the Living Buddha Geda. Shooting has just started on the series, and some of the cast got together in Beijing last week to kick off the proceedings.
The series narrates the real historical events connected with the "Living Buddha Geda". It recalls his contribution to the unification of the country and people, and praises his heroic death.
Tibetan actor Duo Bujie, acclaimed for his role as the protagonist in the film "Hoh Xil - Mountain Patrol", will star in the title role. The actor has a wealth of experience in rendering Tibetan roles. He said, "In the past I've portrayed several Tibetan historical figures,including the fifth and sixth Dalai Lamas. I also played the Living Buddha Geda in other shows such as 'Tibetan Vicissitudes', which related many real stories about him."
Shooting and editing on the series will be finished by August. "Living Buddha Geda" will be broadcast on CCTV as part of national celebrations for the 40th anniversary of the Tibet Autonomous Region.
