WASHINGTON, July 12 (Xinhua) - United States President George W. Bush said
on Saturday he had confidence in CIA Director George Tenet, who has taken the
blame for an incorrect statement about Iraq's nuclear weapons program.
"I've got confidence in George Tenet," Bush said in Ab
uja, Nigeria. "I've
got confidence in the men and women who work at the CIA and I look forward to
working with them as we win this war on terror."
White House spokesman Ari Fleischer said Bush considers the matter closed.
"The president has moved on," he added.
Tenet said Friday that his agency failed to tell the White House to remove
a sentence from the State of the Union address that asserted Iraq had tried to
buy "significant quantities" of uranium from Africa.
Earlier this week, the White House retracted the statement after the claim
was found to be based on forged documents. End
